santorini I

In September 2023, I spent a week walking around the Greek island of Santorini. The island is under pressure: large crowds of (cruise ship) tourists flood the island every day, causing congestions and long queues. Luxury hotels compete in a rat race to offer the best facilities, including Caldera-view pools of only a few square meters. And tourists are everywhere, taking selfies and - some of them - taking part in 'flying dress' photo shoots, living the dream. Is the island slowly falling victim to its own beauty? And, more importantly, what's beyond the crowds? These are the pictures I made during a workshop with photographer Mark Power at the Palm Tree Residence. Click to enlarge (desktop).
