after the flood

In the summer of 2021, the town of Pepinster (Belgian Ardennes) was severely hit by floodings. This is what the town looks like five months later. The local kindergarten is a silent witness of the destructive power of the water. Volunteers collect food, clothes and appliances for residents who have lost everything. Some people have to stay (or want to stay, who knows) in their moldy and empty houses. Others get anxious when it rains or when they have to take a shower. The question whether this disaster could have been avoided remains unanswered.

Don't be fooled by the 'blossom' in the tree. These are really just threads and pieces of fabric that were brought by the river from upstream textile factories.
